Application of Air Compressors in Greenhouses

As facility agriculture moves toward larger scale and greater intelligence, the demand for automated equipment in greenhouse environmental control and plant protection operations is steadily increasing. As the core power source of pneumatic systems, air compressors are being increasingly widely used in applications such as automatic window opening and atomized spraying.

I. Automatic Window Opening: Achieving Precise Ventilation

In large-scale multi-span greenhouses, the traditional methods for operating roof vents, side windows, and shade nets are primarily manual or electric push rods. Manual operation is inefficient, while electric push rods are prone to short circuits and corrosion in high-temperature, high-humidity environments. With a pneumatic control system driven by an air compressor, compressed air is delivered through pipelines to individual pneumatic actuators, enabling synchronized and precise control of multiple window groups.

Pneumatic control offers the following advantages: First, it has strong environmental adaptability, unaffected by the high-humidity greenhouse environment, and is resistant to corrosion and short circuits. Second, it operates smoothly with precisely adjustable opening angles. Third, when paired with temperature and humidity sensors, it enables automatic ventilation — when temperature or humidity exceeds set thresholds, the system automatically opens the windows for adjustment.

II. Atomized Spraying: Improving Pesticide Utilization Efficiency

Traditional backpack sprayers require high labor intensity, produce uneven droplet sizes, and provide limited coverage on the undersides of leaves. An air compressor-driven atomized spraying system uses compressed air passing through nozzles at high speed to break pesticide liquid into micron-sized droplets. The atomization effect is uniform with good suspension properties, allowing comprehensive coverage of both leaf surfaces and stems.

Compared to conventional spraying methods, this system can save over 30% of pesticide liquid and more than 50% of water, while also improving efficacy and reducing pesticide residues. When combined with an automatic control system, it can achieve timed, quantitative automatic spraying, reducing labor costs.
