The oil in a screw air compressor is essential for maintaining its normal operation and extending its service life. Maintaining an air compressor is actually quite similar to maintaining a car. After a certain period of use, the oil needs to be replaced. Most cars require an oil change at 5,000 kilometers, while some at 10,000 kilometers. So how often should the oil in a screw air compressor be changed?

There are three types of oil for screw air compressors. The first is ordinary mineral oil, which is relatively inexpensive. The second is high-quality semi-synthetic oil, which costs more. The third is fully synthetic oil, the highest-quality option among the three and also the most expensive.

1.Mineral oil is generally recommended to be replaced every 2,000 to 3,000 operating hours.

2.Semi-synthetic oil is generally recommended to be replaced every 4,000 to 6,000 operating hours.

3.Fully synthetic oil is generally recommended to be replaced every 6,000 to 8,000 operating hours.

Some users, in an attempt to cut costs, skip oil change maintenance or use low-quality lubricating oil for an extended period, which can easily cause damage to the air compressor host. Others select the wrong type of lubricating oil, leading to severe compressor damage. We therefore recommend using high-quality oil with corrosion resistance, low water miscibility and anti-foaming properties, and replacing the oil promptly within its service life. This prevents machine damage caused by poor oil quality under high-temperature conditions.
